The Interiors and Exteriors of "The Cohen House" Located in Malibu!

This is the actual interiors of the external house we see in nearly every episode of The O.C..Notice how the inside looks completely different than what we saw on TV. This is because the creators used only the outside of this Malibu home - the interiors were inspired by another house on the same street, that was where the interior pilot episode shots were filmed. After the pilot episode, the show was shot inside Raleigh Manhattan Beach Studios. A set was created that took the likes of this house and the interiors of the pilot episode house and married them together. Sadly, in late 2018 the house that we saw the interiors of in the pilot episode was burned down. Read about that more here.

Behind the Scenes: Pictures of Seth's room from the pilot episode

Here are two super rare images of Seth's room that was featured in the pilot episode only. The pilot episode was filmed in a real house located in Malibu, on the same cul-de-sac as the two story exterior house we see in nearly every episode. Ironically this house was a one story.

After the pilot episode, Seth's room was rebuilt in Raleigh Studios located in Manhattan Beach, CA, along with the pool house, Cohens house, harbor school etc.. Sadly the house used in the pilot later burned down from the California fires in 2018 (to read all about that go here). You will notice that Seth's room in the pilot episode is decorated much different then the rest of the series. Many of the band posters were switched out with more indie type bands but the majority of the other accessories remained similar.

Read much more about Seth's room here!

The O.C. Actor Sightings: Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody Reunion!

Earlier this morning, Rachel Bilson stumbled upon an old friend at the airport. None other than the Coheny Cohen himself! They snapped a quick picture in which she posted to her Instagram account! This long over reunion is currently blowing the internet's mind right now! We may not get a season 5 anytime soon but for now this should satisfy!

The O.C. Mystery: Where are Seth Cohens Tahiti Supplies?

In the season finale of Season one, Seth Cohen, very angry that Ryan decided to head back to Chino after "knocking-up" Theresa", gets on his Catamaran to escape it all and head to Tahiti. It was a callback idea from the pilot episode, Seth wanted to sail "The Summer Breeze" all the way to Tahiti in maybe 42 days. The big question though is where was his survival supplies??

Seth is seen grabbing a backpack and setting his sail up for the trip but a journey of that length would have required a ton of supplies! Was this intentional due to Seth's very spontaneous nature or was this a big TV goof? If you ask us, he never had a chance...

Here's what Entertainment Weekly thought about it in 2004:

"We love Seth Cohen, so we’re hoping that duffel bag he packed for his 42-day sail to Tahiti has 42 gallons of fresh water in it — and a few snacks, too. The O.C.’s tearjerker season finale ended with Ryan (Benjamin McKenzie) heading back to Chino and an angry Seth (Adam Brody) splitting from Newport Beach in his catamaran, bound for the South Pacific island. Seth’s vessel, the Summer Breeze, could withstand the 4,093-mile journey, says Peter Bretschger of Newport’s Balboa Yacht Club. But Seth himself would need a gallon of water a day, plenty of sunscreen, and some food or a grill to cook fish (if he can catch ’em). Without that, ”he’d probably last a week.”

The O.C. Fan Art: Custom Seth Cohen POP! Figure!

How cool is this! A Twitter user by the name of Mango created this custom POP! figure of Seth Cohen in his Season One Chrismukkah attire! This custom Seth creation comes complete with holiday sweater, a candy cane, and menorah! The details are impeccable and looks very legit!

Even The O.C.'s creator Josh Schwartz took notice and retweeted it on his Twitter account this morning. Hey Mango, how about you start selling these already!?

The O.C. Memorabilia: The Bait Shop shot glass prop!

We present to you some rare and awesome up-close images of actual show used props that were housed within the Bait Shop bar set. You know the place that anyone could go for a drink regardless of age.

These shot glasses were used as decoration as well as in hand props for actors/background actors etc..
These shot glasses are actually made of real glass (who would have thought) and measure 2.5" tall x 2" in diameter, featuring "The Bait Shop" logo sticker applied to one side.

If you look on the right side of this merch shelf, you will see a stack of these shot glasses...Ahh, how sad, I imagine most of these shot glass props are either broken or collecting dust in some Hollywood studio right this very second.

Did you know that the original external Bait Shop building was torn down years ago? It's very sad, read all about the cool history of the building here.

The O.C. Merchandise: Reddit User's Awesome O.C. Collection! Plus more!

A Reddit user by the name of Miami-Rice aka Sam recently posted their epic O.C. collection for everyone to see on the official O.C. Reddit page. He/she has some really great gems in there! We reached out further to Sam to see if he/she could tell us a little bit about their collection! Sam was kind enough to email us back with a few additional photos plus a description!

Hi there,
Sam from reddit! Here's a few extra pics of the collection.
Being based in the UK I remember buying the DVD as soon as it was released in here to add to my collection. Most of the other items were collected after the final season finished. It's not a huge collection but has some pretty rare pieces! The sound bite CD is one of my favourites, it's from the first season and contains 43 sound bites from various episodes. On the back it says 'not for sale, resale or auction'. Not sure how it ended up with me!
Another one is the CD which came in a English newspaper, this one has became seriously rare with the majority being binned. It features the 'best ever' OC episode voted by the British audience. The chosen episode was Season 2, episode 4, The New Era. It also has 'The OC: Obsessed Completely, a one hour special.
I'm always on the lookout for the 4 figures from Atomic County but they're expensive to get hold of. I've got a few more items on my radar, so stay tuned!
Thanks!
Sam

Thanks so much for sharing Sam, excellent photos and write-up! Please do reach out to us if you end up acquiring anything awesome! Here at Everything The O.C. we know a thing or two about rare O.C. merchandise, we will back up Sam's statement and add that the Atomic County figurines/Maquettes are very rare indeed (see the above photo of them)! They were only for sale at the San Diego Comic-Con back in 2006 (Warner Brothers booth #4029) and only 250 were made of each character (4 in all). Unfortunately the people that own them also know that they are rare, so you won't see those babies going for sale less than a grand for the set!

Other familiar items we see in Sam's collection are: The complete O.C. DVD special box set, all the audio soundtracks, 2 OC Bear Bricks, 2 promotional OC hats, looks to be the entire set of Scholastic OC novels (get them if you like fan-fiction), a rare OC surfboard bottle opener, The O.C. the trivia game and the mini disk pilot episode!

Lovable Props From The O.C.: A Collection of Actual O.C. Scripts and More!

Here at Everything The O.C. we like to bring you rare and hard to find things about The O.C, not just photos we've all seen hundreds of times on O.C. fan Instagram accounts. This time we've ordered you up a special! We bring to you photos of some actual original O.C. scripts, production paperwork and more!

The following scripts and paperwork come from season 2 episode 18 "The Risky Business", script revision pages from season 1 episode 17 "The Truth" and an eight page shooting schedule of episode 25 (unsure of season). These were all apart of an auction a few years ago that sold for only $50 dollars plus shipping! We wish we were the lucky bidders so we could have displayed some better in depth photos!

The page on top features information about each scene - filming location/stage, which actors would be involved, the props needed, possible stunt doubles and more. These pages are created for literally every scene, which gives you a perspective on how long an episode takes to get filmed! It isn't too uncommon for a TV show to spend two weeks on ONE episode!

If your wondering - the color of the paper represent which draft a TV production is on. There is a sequence of colors that represents which version of the script they are on, notice the blue color - that means something was revised from the original white copy (all scripts start white). Here is a the order of how scripts are colored - White Draft (original), Blue Revision, Pink Revision,Yellow Revision Green Revision, Goldenrod Revision, Buff Revision, Salmon Revision, Cherry Revision, Second Blue Revision, Second Pink Revision and so on...

The front cover page for season 2 episode 16!

Lastly here is a filming schedule - notice that the Cohen house is listed as being located on stage 28 and Seth's room is located on stage 27. This is because Seth's room wasn't actually upstairs, his room was a set located on a completely different sound stage. Stage 27 also housed things like the Newport Group offices, Harbor School, Marissa's room, Summer's room and more!

Behind the Scenes: Early Illustrations of Seth's Atomic County Comic Book!

Eric Wight's the oc atomic county
Eric Wight's first thumbnail for Atomic County

Every great idea has humble beginnings, over time that simple idea evolves into something much more amazing - if you have the patience that is. The following images shows how Eric Wight's illustrations for Atomic County came to be. In case you didn't know, Eric Wight was the illustrator that created nearly every drawling/sketch in The O.C. - Seth's doodles, Art around his room and of course Atomic County. To the viewers imagination, the artist was of course Seth Cohen but it's all smoke and mirrors when it comes to TV..Eric Wight was the real man behind all that creativity! Learn more about him here.

"My first attempt at the O.C. Insider magazine cover. It would ultimately become the cover to the graphic novel prop seen on the show. Note Seth's more superhero-ish outfit and rocket skateboard, both ideas that were ultimately killed." -Eric Wight
As you can see Seth was originally equipped with a rocket skateboard - how appropriate!

Isn't amazing to see how Eric's initial idea vs final idea turned out? With that being said - don't belittle your small progresses in life because you never know, if you stick to it, it could become a huge victory! Check out our DIY printable section to print off your very own Atomic County comic book cover.

If you're interested in learning more about Eric Wight check out the IGN interview below (we just included The O.C. related questions).

IGN: How did you first get involved with The O.C.?
Wight: I was selling a piece of my art on eBay from The Escapist, which was an adaptation of The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, and the person who bought it was Alan Heinberg, one of the executive producers of the show and was a huge fan of my work and asked if I'd be interested in maybe being the ghost artist for Seth. They'd talked about taking him in the direction where he'd draw some comic books and they wanted that would literally become the artist and set the style for Seth. And immediately, it clicked and I could relate to Seth's plight on the show. It became really easy to fill in his shoes, and people really grabbed onto it; they really dug that sort of very minor sub-plot in the show.
IGN: When you're watching the show and watching Seth trace the lines of your art, do you ever just cringe?
Wight: There's one scene where I think he gets into a fight with Summer and he takes some of my drawings in a rage and I remember just feeling this anger burning inside me, like, "How dare you tear up my drawings?" It's funny when, I'll lurk around and see what people are saying online and these arguments are like, "No; Adam Brody is the real artist!" But, it's all Hollywood magic.

Announcements: And the Chrismukkah giveaway winner is....

Thanks to everyone that entered into our Chrismukkah giveaway! We really enjoyed reading so many great stories, the effort you guys put into it was fantastic! One major thing stuck out while reading through the submissions - this was that everyone really found safety and companionship in watching The O.C..Another interesting theme was that many of you had preconceived notions about the show being lame but then once you started watching you were absolutely hooked!

We also learned that you guys/gals watch the series religiously (every year or more) and feel like the characters in The O.C. are practically your own family too. That's exactly what makes The O.C. special compared to a lot of other shows out there, its just a very comforting and nostalgic show to watch! The O.C. captures a certain magic that no other show to date has and we think that's why new and old fans keep loving the show year after year.

But enough of all that! Now to the good stuff! We have chosen a winner of our Chrismukkah contest! Captain oats stampede drum roll please..*horse sound*..

The winner is The UBER, SUPER O.C. fan - (quite possibly the biggest O.C. fan ever) named Kameron from Seattle, Washington! We were really moved by his fan story, his upbringing really resembled Ryan's! Great job Kameron! Read his fantastic submission below to see what we mean!

Here is Kameron and his cat

Dear Everything The O.C.

I discovered The O.C. when it premiered back in August 2003 the summer before 10th grade. I’ve been a diehard fan ever since. At the time I discovered the show I was a 15 year old boy who had just spent his freshman year of high school getting his ass kicked at military school in Carlsbad, CA. Then my sophomore year I got to come back home to Seattle, WA but the stipulations for my return were I had to go to a private Lutheran High School, and I had to play a sport. Going from a real hostile environment like military school to a Private Lutheran High School was a bit of a culture shock. I felt a lot like Ryan moving from Chino to The O.C. so the show just really resonated with me. I was a bit of an outsider, even did a few days in juvie for a crime I didn’t commit, (LONG STORY, No you’re being defensive!😂). I took the case to trial and was found not guilty. Even though I didn’t have a Sandy Cohen for a lawyer though it all worked out lol. I connected with the show on such a personal level cause it was such a compelling fish out of water story. I didn’t feel I was a bad kid but coming from military school to a private Lutheran high school I certainly was treated like one at times. Also I was kind of a troublemaker but any fights I got in were mostly self defense, except for those ones that weren’t (Ok so I was kind of a resentful, ill tempered young man ðŸ˜‚). But it was nice watching this show and viewing this character just struggling to be a normal teenager under trying circumstances with family and school and having to navigate through it all and hold it all together.

Kameron is quite the O.C. trivia king!

The show just really hit home for me. Also I love the music, the characters, the chracter development, really everything, I’m what you would call an obsessed fan. I listen to podcasts about it, I do a re-watch about once a year but I’ve lost track of how many times I’ve seen the series all the way through. I’ve included a few pics, one is of this trivia game I used to play and I would only play The O.C and was the best in the U.S. for a little bit.
How cool is that!!

Also included a hilarious pic of an art piece my fiancé had commissioned of me, Seth and Ryan! Thank you for the consideration!

Merry Chrismukkah!

Kameron Lo #1 fan
Seattle, WA
Isn't that an amazing fan story?! Kameron thanks so much for being a fan of The O.C. but furthermore a big fan of our site! We will reach out to you via email for your prize details - thanks buddy!

The O.C. in the News: Peter Gallagher plays Attorney in the latest "The Conner's" Episode!

It has just been released that Peter Gallagher will be playing a guest role as an attorney named Brian Foster on the latest "The Conner's" episode. Dan (father in the show) is trying to be compensated for a hurt arm and Sandy Cohen, I mean Brian Foster comes in to try and save the day and make the whole family rich.

This is an interesting guest role for Peter Gallagher, Peter is seriously channeling his Sandy Cohen days here - I wonder if he had to go back and watch some episodes to get back in that lawyer groove? Whatever the case this may be the closest we'll ever get to seeing a Sandy Cohen-esque role in 2019!

The O.C. Video Clips: Watch the O.C. like its still 2003 - commercials and all!

There is an epic vintage O.C. recording of "The Escape" we recently found on the web and it couldn't be more nostalgic! Not only does this episode feature that home-made low resolution VHS recording vibe but also includes the commercials from that early 2000 era as well! This is as close to it get's to enjoying The O.C. the way it actually aired!

Watch it here > https://archive.org/details/The_OC_FOX_WOC_2003-09-16 (YouTube would not allow us to upload it due to copyright issues)

Notice the Verizon commercial at 4:22 - we believe this was Bradley Stryker aka Ryan Atwoods first brother (before he was switched out for Logan Marshall Green).

Sandy attempting to get the whole family together for a group shot taken with his digital camera, yes an old outdated digital camera! When's the last time you used one? Furthermore a filming boom mic can be seen right above Sandy's head (whoooops)!
