The O.C. in the News: Peter Gallagher plays Attorney in the latest "The Conner's" Episode!

It has just been released that Peter Gallagher will be playing a guest role as an attorney named Brian Foster on the latest "The Conner's" episode. Dan (father in the show) is trying to be compensated for a hurt arm and Sandy Cohen, I mean Brian Foster comes in to try and save the day and make the whole family rich.

This is an interesting guest role for Peter Gallagher, Peter is seriously channeling his Sandy Cohen days here - I wonder if he had to go back and watch some episodes to get back in that lawyer groove? Whatever the case this may be the closest we'll ever get to seeing a Sandy Cohen-esque role in 2019!

The O.C. in the News: Update on 6210 Ocean Breeze Drive (sad news)

6210 destruction left from woolsey malibu fire the oc pilot house

Special Malibu - Woolsey Fire Update

Earlier this month we had reported about the possibilities of Woolsey fire damage on the 6210 Ocean Breeze Drive home aka the pilot O.C. house - read about that here first. At the time we were uncertain on what extent the reported damage may have been. Since then we have very sad news to report. to O.C. fans everywhere. A twitter user @SteveCovington had brought to our attention that the 6210 Ocean Breeze Drive home has been completely leveled. Further proof is in these recently released aerial images of the Malibu area. Thanks for the share Steve.

6210 destruction left from woolsey malibu fire the oc pilot house

You are looking at what is now left of the 6210 Ocean Breeze Drive home (this house was the only one to suffer any damage on the Ocean Breeze Drive cul de sac. If you look closely (or not) you will see that the whole structure of the home has been completely burned to the ground into nothing.

6210 destruction left from woolsey malibu fire the oc pilot house

The only part of the house that remains is the front driveway and backyard pool area. Notice how the pool, hot-tub and outdoor grill kitchen area still remain.

You may not know but the backyard of this Malibu home (as well as some interior rooms, kitchen where Ryan makes breakfast and Kirsten and Sandy talk, Seth's room, living room where Seth and Ryan first met) was all filmed here. Do you remember the scene when Ryan wakes up from the pool house and walks outside to take in the amazing view? That was all shot at this now destroyed house. See the above video scene for reference. Knowing what we know now - it will be a little eerie re-watching the pilot episode.

The above photo was from a recent real-estate listing. The home was worth around 7 million dollars at the time of its demise. As you can see from the above photo - no pool house, this is because after the pilot episode the pool house was dismantled and rebuilt along with the backyard area and everything else on a sound-stage at an Manhattan Beach studio. More on that here

Lastly here is a very sobering before and after image. We pray that the owners of this home got out safe before it caught fire.

On a positive note we are very happy that the 6205 Ocean Breeze Drive home  (the house we see the front of in nearly every episode and located on the same street) and Marissa's house was left untouched from the blaze.

The O.C. in the News: 6210 Ocean Breeze Drive destroyed by Malibu Woolsey fire?!

Before we get to the Malibu/Woolsey fire details a few basic things need to get out of the way: During the pilot episode of The O.C. three houses were used in the filming, all three are located on the same street in a gated Malibu cul-de-sac:

Related image

6205 Ocean Breeze is the house that we could occasionally see only the front exterior of. This house was where the Cohens supposedly lived. It remained seen throughout the series, a focal point right before interiors scenes were shown. If you remember Marissa and Ryan first met down near the driveway of this home.

6201 Ocean Breeze was Marissa's house - this house is directly next door to 6205 (Cohen house), this house was used very briefly in the pilot episode. Marissa's front doorway was shown when "The Man" stopped by/Jimmy's office/Foyer area when Marissa, Jimmy, Julie and Kaitlin were leaving the house to head to the charity show. Furthermore a few exterior shots were used when Marissa laid on the ground passed out. This homes interiors were later changed and built on a sound stage in Manhattan Beach.

Lastly 6210 Ocean Breeze was just a house on the same street as the other homes (very close to 6201 and 6205) that the producers conveniently borrowed things from.

pool house ryan the o.c.

For instance, the backyard pool area (where Ryan's pool-house was located) was actually shot in the backyard of this house..

Image result for 6210 ocean breeze pool

It was temporarily built and taken away after filming the pilot (rebuilt in a studio at Manhattan Beach).

This house also contained scenes from the interior living room area where Seth was playing PlayStation with Ryan. "Do you want to play Grand Theft Auto? It's pretty cool. You can like, steal cars and... not that that's cool. Or uncool".

Lastly where Sandy and Kirsten talk (along with other kitchen scenes/Ryan cooking breakfast) were all filmed at this 6210 Ocean Breeze home.

These areas were later built inside a sound stage in Manhattan Beach (more on that here). The producers took key elements from 6210 and key elements from 6205 + some creativity and sandwiched them together to make what we saw on The O.C. as "The Cohens house".

Now that we have that out of the way - we have just learned that the Malibu fire has made it's way to this famous O.C. filming location street. It has been confirmed only verbally by twitter handle MalibuFire2018 (no actual picture proof yet) that the circled house (6210) was confirmed lost structure (destroyed/damaged). If it turns out to be true this will be a huge blow to the O.C. filming location community - as it holds a lot of early memories of the pilot episode. To check the ongoing updated interactive map go here.

Another external photo above and more interior photos below. (taken from the last episode of The O.C. when Ryan drives away from the Cohen house)

Sitting area..Notice how much larger this version is compared to the sound stage version (this is where Seth was playing video games in the pilot with Ryan)

Kitchen area where Sandy and Kirsten talked / Ryan made breakfast

Another kitchen shot

Shot of the family room

Backyard without temporary pool house (taken from a real-estate listing)

A shot of the interior of the pool house that we saw in the pilot episode (it was only built for one episode then moved to Raleigh Studios in Manhattan Beach).

Another shot of the pool house - pretty crazy how detailed it was right!?

This room should look a bit familiar to you..It's because they turned this into Seth's room during the pilot filming

Then here's Seth's room all dressed up

Anyways we hope that the news is false but at least we are left with these wonderful images of what the house looked like before its untimely demise. We will keep you guys posted if we find anything more.

The O.C. in the News: Mischa Barton joins The Hills Reboot!

It was announced yesterday that The O.C.'s Mischa Barton will be joining the cast of MTV's "reality TV" show 'The Hills' reboot. If you forgot - 'The Hills' was inspired by The O.C. and was created in 2006. The show had 6 seasons and 102 episodes. 'The Hills' was highly successful capitalizing on the scripted reality trend that hit hard in the early 2000's.

Mischa says: “The secrets out... I’m joining the cast of The Hills. When MTV approached me with the chance to be a part of the reality show that was inspired by The OC, it felt like the perfect opportunity for an irresistibly inviting new chapter”

And here's the latest video Mischa Barton posted on her Instagram account..She's basically making a funny jab to The O.C.'s most memorable quote - "Welcome to The O.C. bitch!". We will have to see how this all plays out - we wish Mischa well, we know she needs a steady successful gig! Now how about a reboot of the show that inspired 'The Hills'?! The O.C. REBOOT anyone?!

The O.C. in the news: Samaire Armstrong talks about an OC reunion!

Look who it is! Its Samaire Armstrong aka Anna Stern - Seth Cohen's short-term girlfriend - long term friend in The OC! In this quick interview Samaire is asked the age old question - if she would be apart of an O.C. reunion! This is a very reoccurring question when interviewing The O.C. stars post show, so far every actor that is asked says YES!

The O.C. in the News: Orange County fires now blazing in Malibu (The Cohen/Cooper house filming location threatened)

The external filming locations of the Cohen and Coopers house may be threatened today as the Orange County fires rage now in Malibu. This morning fires have been reported on the 5300 block of Horizon drive in Malibu and there has been reports of structural damage. As you can see in the above visual its awfully close to where The O.C. filmed (Ocean Breeze Drive) much of the external shots we got to see in the pilot episode, Coopers house, Cohen house cul de sac. Not many more details are known at this time but we hope and pray everyone stays safe and that people evacuated from their homes. As fans of The O.C. we also hope that these TV show landmarks stay intact! We will update you if anything else is reported. Thanks!

UPDATE: Great news - fire reported has been contained and no injuries reported!

The O.C in the News: Ben dining with his daughter Frances!

Here we have a rare photo of Benjamin Mckenzie taken recently. Ben is dining at a restaurant with his baby daughter Frances (she can barely be seen). Let's face it, life has changed full swing for good ole Chino, he's now married with a child. Although Ben's expression here looks a bit like he's contemplating when life was a bit more simple, you know when he had the good life, living in a pool house, punching people and working at the Crab Shack. ahhhh, those were the days! But you do you Ben, we're rooting for you either way!

But when he's not busy playing an up and coming country music star, Chris plays the part of a wonderful dad! By the looks of it, it seems like she likes him too!

The resemblance is strong!

The only other thing we want to know is if Chris said his "Welcome to the O.C." line when she popped out!

Who's the lucky lady you may ask? Well its no other than Ben's Gotham co-star Morena Baccarin! We think she has a slight Theresa vibe but that's just us!

The two were married at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens in New York City. It was a quaint ceremony with family members and close friends! Brooklyn Botanical Garden will cost around $180 dollars a head (based on a 300 person reception).

Ben and Morena as seen on Gotham

Fun Fact: The two actors started hitting it off in a big way in 2015 but Gotham wasn't the first time they crossed paths. In season 3 of The O.C. Morena Baccarin played a character named "Maya Griffin". If you remember she was the girl that Matt Ramsey (Sandy Cohen's reckless right hand man) was dating. It has been quoted that Benjamin Mckenzie didn't even remember that she was on The O.C. until it was later mentioned by someone else, talk about hilarious!

The O.C. in the News: Which O.C. star is currently binge watching The O.C.?

Last week an amazing thing happened! Peter Gallagher aka our beloved Sandy Cohen told a fan he's currently binge watching The O.C.! Peter Gallagher was hanging out near Gansevoort Park Hotel when a fan noticed him. The fan mentioned “He was so so polite and appreciated the fan approaching him. He even stopped to chat.”. In their conversation Peter mentioned that he heard a lot of fans were re-watching the show, including himself.

One could only wonder if Peter is binge watching to reprise his role as the amazing Sandy Cohen? Perhaps he is studying all of Sandy's moves that he has forgotten in the last 10 years for a future show? Think about it, a ton of shows are getting reboots lately and here at Everything The O.C. we are so down with a Hulu, Amazon or Netflix original series reboot, even if it's just a movie. Until we hear more all we can do is just wait folks! #bringtheocback #californiaherewecome

The O.C. in the News: Ben Mckenzie of The O.C., Gotham and Southland calls The O.C. Timeless!

Ben Mckenzie was recently interviewed earlier this month to talk about Gotham season 3. But Gotham wasn't the only thing we got to hear about in the interview. Ben talks about The O.C. and calls The O.C. timeless! Pretty priceless! We would have to agree Ben aka Kid Chino! Watch the interview in the video above or read the transcript below!

Transcript:

Ben Mckenzie: Yeah its cool. People are discovering not only The O.C. on Hulu but Southland as well. They are both on Hulu now. I'll plug my shows to get those streaming residuals, which is like 50 bucks every once in awhile, but um not complaining.

Ben Mckenzie: Yeah The O.C. is great I  mean, The O.C. feels like yesterday to me but it was obviously 10 years ago. When it ended it was 10 years ago but when it started was more than that. So there's a whole generation of like, like I call them kids cause i'm so old, but like younger people who would have enjoyed The O.C. except they were not born yet or they were 5 or whatever and so now they are discovering it as teenagers and going oh wow this is kind of good, I kind of dig it.

Interviewer: The problems are kinda timeless you know, either way your going to experience what's going on.

Ben Mckenzie:  Right, right, right. Yeah. I like to think The O.C. is timeless, you heard that here from me a guy on that show.

The O.C. in the News: Bret Harrison aka "Big" Danny returns in Netflix's Original series "The Ranch"

You remember him. The tall, dark, hansom and very very funny Danny from The O.C..You know that hilarious guy that was in just one episode but left a long lasting impression on the world!

So maybe you do, maybe you don't. Essentially he was Seth Cohen's nemesis, he also had a thing for Summer. Until Seth and Danny hang out that is. Seth urges that Danny needs to go BIGGER with his jokes..Danny comes back to Harbor School with a new set of jokes that bomb so hard that we never see him again....Until now..

Big Danny aka Bret Harrison is now starring in the new Netflix Original Series "The Ranch", alongside Ashton Kutcher (The Butterfly Effect, That 70's Show), Danny Masterson (That 70's Show) and Sam Elliott (Tombstone, Prancer).

Bret Harrison plays a character named Kenny. Kenny is Abby's boyfriend (the blonde), he's an ex band geek and forgotten high school "friend" of Colt Bennett (Ashton Kutcher), he currently works as a manager at the local Marriott. Looks like he is in 5 of the 10 episodes of "The Ranch" (spoiler alert), so maybe he doesn't go big this time and goes home, whatever the case watch him now in "The Ranch" streaming now only on Netflix!

"Get yourself some funnier friends"
- Sandy Cohen
