The O.C. Memorabilia: The Bait Shop shot glass prop!

We present to you some rare and awesome up-close images of actual show used props that were housed within the Bait Shop bar set. You know the place that anyone could go for a drink regardless of age.

These shot glasses were used as decoration as well as in hand props for actors/background actors etc..
These shot glasses are actually made of real glass (who would have thought) and measure 2.5" tall x 2" in diameter, featuring "The Bait Shop" logo sticker applied to one side.

If you look on the right side of this merch shelf, you will see a stack of these shot glasses...Ahh, how sad, I imagine most of these shot glass props are either broken or collecting dust in some Hollywood studio right this very second.

Did you know that the original external Bait Shop building was torn down years ago? It's very sad, read all about the cool history of the building here.

Lovable Props From The O.C.: A Collection of Actual O.C. Scripts and More!

Here at Everything The O.C. we like to bring you rare and hard to find things about The O.C, not just photos we've all seen hundreds of times on O.C. fan Instagram accounts. This time we've ordered you up a special! We bring to you photos of some actual original O.C. scripts, production paperwork and more!

The following scripts and paperwork come from season 2 episode 18 "The Risky Business", script revision pages from season 1 episode 17 "The Truth" and an eight page shooting schedule of episode 25 (unsure of season). These were all apart of an auction a few years ago that sold for only $50 dollars plus shipping! We wish we were the lucky bidders so we could have displayed some better in depth photos!

The page on top features information about each scene - filming location/stage, which actors would be involved, the props needed, possible stunt doubles and more. These pages are created for literally every scene, which gives you a perspective on how long an episode takes to get filmed! It isn't too uncommon for a TV show to spend two weeks on ONE episode!

If your wondering - the color of the paper represent which draft a TV production is on. There is a sequence of colors that represents which version of the script they are on, notice the blue color - that means something was revised from the original white copy (all scripts start white). Here is a the order of how scripts are colored - White Draft (original), Blue Revision, Pink Revision,Yellow Revision Green Revision, Goldenrod Revision, Buff Revision, Salmon Revision, Cherry Revision, Second Blue Revision, Second Pink Revision and so on...

The front cover page for season 2 episode 16!

Lastly here is a filming schedule - notice that the Cohen house is listed as being located on stage 28 and Seth's room is located on stage 27. This is because Seth's room wasn't actually upstairs, his room was a set located on a completely different sound stage. Stage 27 also housed things like the Newport Group offices, Harbor School, Marissa's room, Summer's room and more!

Lovable Props From The O.C.: Jimmy Coopers Actual Drivers License Prop!

Now that's the face of a truly great dad

What you are feasting your eyes on here is photos of Jimmy Cooper's actual drivers license that was used during The O.C. filming. This ID was kept safe in Jimmy's wallet through all the thieving, buying Julie fro-yo's and getting beaten up by filthy gangsters!

wow it's so blank

This prop was custom-made by the O.C. production team for use in various episodes of the series. The California license features the image of Jimmy and his personal information. Some of the image has been blurred in grey in order to keep from duplication. This drivers license was sold to an unknown buyer on a now defunct ScreenUsed.com prop site for $100 dollars on March 21st 2015.

The auction seller masked out certain details of this ID but the experts at ETOC cleaned it up because we love our fans. So feel free to print this puppy out and display it proudly in your O.C. memorabilia collection! Make sure the dimensions reflect that of a real license.

Bonus observations: The funny thing about the address on Jimmy's license is that "6201" is actually the first part of the real address location of Marissa's house in the pilot episode. It's like the creators were trying to leave fans with little bread crumbs! The real filming location was not located in Newport Beach but in a gated Malibu cul de sac. The filming house address was 6201 Ocean Breeze Drive Malibu, CA 90265. Sadly another famous pilot filming house on the same street was recenlty burned to the ground, check that out here! Furthermore the birth year on the ID, 1964 reflected Tate Donovan's actual age (39) when the first season kicked off! So cool!!

Lovable Props From The O.C.: Seths Yakuza Prep Poster!

Here is a photo of the actual prop poster that was hung up in Seth Cohen's room (above his bed). Yakuza Prep was of course a fictitious anime movie created just for the show. This exact poster design can also be seen in Josh Schwartz's other baby and hit TV show "Chuck".

Fun fact: Yakuza is a Japanese word for: a Japanese organized crime syndicate similar to the Mafia.
a Japanese gangster or racketeer.

The O.C. Memorabilia: The Best Chrismukkah Ever Script!

At Everything The O.C. we love acquiring rare one-of-a-kind OC items. One of which is an actual script used in season 1 episode 13 "The Best Chrismukkah Ever". If you are unfamiliar with this episode your not a true fan! It's also known as the episode where Seth introduces not only to Ryan but to the whole world about his super holiday combining the best of Christmas and Hanukkah into one super holiday known as Chrismukkah. TV shows have multiple stages of scripts - this script above just so happens to be the blue draft from 10-07-03. This particular episodes is probably in the top 5 best episodes of the entire series. Notice at the bottom left they originally wrote this as episode 12 (112) - later turned to 13..Episode 12 was the Luke's dad Carson coming out episode called "The Secret".

Here is a look inside. In this excerpt Seth is trying to teach Ryan about his super holiday!

And here is the scene pointed out above. The look on Ryan's face is priceless. Let us know if you like these kinds of posts - if the demand is high enough we will be happy to scan certain scripts for the fans!

Rare Photos: Peter Gallagher's smoking head-shot and autograph!

peter gallagher autographed black and white photo smoking

Here is a really cool head-shot of Peter Gallagher getting his smoke on..Judging by the turtle neck we predict this was taken in the late 80's to early 90's but only Peter himself could tell us the real story behind the image! Oh yeah and look its autographed and might we say that Peter has the world's coolest autograph!

The O.C. Memorabilia: Benjamin Mckenzie's before fame drivers license!

As you can see this is Benjamin Mckenzie's before fame drivers license from when he lived in Austin, TX. Notice how his last name is Schenkkan, this is Ben's real last name but he chose his middle name "Mckenzie" for acting. Ben is shown as 5' 9" which is very cool for all you average Joe's out there, you don't have to be tall to be "big"! On a side note - Ben has managed to take a near perfect drivers license picture which we think is hella rare! Furthermore he was a heart donor, how generous! Who would have thought he would end up breaking a lot of hearts in the years to come!

Learn a whole lot more awesome things about Ben before he was famous here!

Lovable Props From The O.C.: The Cohen Bagel Slicer! What brand was it and where can I buy one?

The Cohens loved them some bagels, in fact it was practically considered currency on The O.C..Among their bagel love was their equal love for their bagel slicer. Their famous white bagel slicer would hang out on the kitchen counter, practically like another character on the show. Their bagel slicer represented the good times shared in the Cohen kitchen and the warm moments between the family. Let's face Cohens + Bagels = Love.

Peter Gallagher's daughter Kathryn recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the Cohens bagel slicer (among other things). She mentioned: "Were big into everything bagels (speaking about her real family), and my dad is poppy seed with lox and cream cheese...We never actually got the bagel slicer (from The O.C. set), which bummed me out. When the show closed I really wanted it, it was a little heartbreaking".

If the Cohen bagel slicer wasn't given to Peter Gallagher who the heck has it? Our best guess is that it's somewhere on a shelf or framed in Josh Schwartz's man cave. Perhaps in a dust/bomb proof case similar to the one that holds the Declaration of Independence (See what Josh Schwartz actually took from the show here and scroll down to the bottom).

This all begs an important question, if we cannot locate the original bagel slicer prop from the show couldn't we as fans buy a replica? I mean haven't you asked yourself at one point, "man I wish I had a bagel slicer like that". It's okay, we have too.

Well fear not, our research team has been diligently researching what brand bagel slicer was used in the show! Results below!

During the series there wasn't a whole lot of close-up images of the bagel slicer itself but in the last episode (when the Cohens are packing up their belongings) we get a whole lot more details, in-fact we can see the front/side and bottom of the slicer all in one scene. These images helped a lot in our research.

After analyzing the photos and multiple brands, just TWO bagel slicers are an exact match as the Cohens when it comes to materials, look and quality. One of the main details that separates the fakes to the real thing are the solid brass cutlery rivets, same as in the show.

The two brands are Bagel Guillotine by Hoan and The Bagel Biter by Larien aka "The Original Guillotine Bagel Guillotine". Not much info showed up about Hoan's Bagel Guillotine but we do know that The Bagel Biter was created in the early 90's. The patent for the Bagel Biter was submitted in 1994 and approved in 1995 (pat number 5,431,078).

The only problem is that it's difficult to find The Bagel Biter new in stores or online, in-fact you may have more luck search Ebay and buy a used one. BUT Then there's the Hoan's Bagel Guillotine which we notice looks like the exact same product and also very affordable on Amazon with prime 2-day shipping (under 20 dollars USD)! Our theory is that Larien may have licensed out its product to Hoan which explains the re-branding and lack of Larien branded slicers available.

Just because we are all about getting verified answers here at Everything The O.C. we skipped the middle man and emailed Larien to clear up the confusion. They responded with:

"Hoan aka Lifetime Brands, licensed the Larien bagel slicer six years ago. Same product, different manufacturer."

Just as we suspected! So there we have it! Hoan's Bagel Guillotine for the WIN!
A perfect Cohen bagel slicer match made in bagel heaven!

FEATURES:
  • With this bagel slicer, you can safely and effortlessly slice your bagels in half
  • Simply place bagel in the slot and push down on the blade
  • The cradle holds the bagel while two clear acrylic safety shields keep fingers away from the patented bagel piercing blade
  • Perfect for bagels, muffins, buns, and rolls of all sizes
  • Features precision ground serrated cutting edges and a non-stick XYLAN® coated blade for smooth slicing and durability

With over 1,000 customer reviews and a close perfect score, this is a great product and one you can trust. It's even available in 3 colors, red grey and white although we are partial to the classic Cohen white for understandable reasons.

We then stumbled on this hilarious gem while looking at the Hoan Bagel Slicer product reviews! (This review by Christina deserves an award):

"I love this product. I originally bought it because I wanted to feel more like a Cohen (bagels + schmears were a staple in the Cohen family kitchen on the television show The O.C.). Pretty sure this is the exact model they used on the show (see attached photo- which of course I own no rights to)

Anyway, it cuts my bagels very satisfactorily.
Schmear on, my friends."

Click here to purchase the Hoan Bagel Slicer
aka The Cohens Bagel Slicer! Only $16.49!

Well there you have it, an O.C. mystery solved! We ordered ours and it no only came in 2 days but its a work of art! Hey it's the simple things in life! Now you too can live life just like the Cohens, eating bagels the Cohen way! Now picking the right cream cheese is up to you though! Just make sure you get your schmear on!

The O.C. Memerabilia: 2nd Annual O.C Chrismukkah Party Ornament

Here we have a very rare ornament from the 2nd Annual O.C. Chrismukkah Party! These cool collectible ornaments were handed out to all that were lucky enough to attend, cast/crew from the show, an invitation of sorts. The party was ironically before the release of season two's annual Christmas episode "The Chrismukkah That Almost Wasn't" which didn't air until December 16th 2004.
