The Cars of The O.C.: Ryan Atwood's 1980-1987 Toyota Land Cruiser!

In this edition of The Cars of The O.C. we present to you Ryan's dessert beige 1980-1987 Model 60 Toyota Land Cruiser! This Toyota Land Cruiser was given to Ryan by his mother Dawn Atwood upon Ryan's high-school graduation. It's no Land Rover but it surely an awesome gift! Dawns new boyfriend even helped her fix it up, And look a red ribbon, Dawn clearly went all out with this gift!

Gee thanks mom for getting me a car with over 230 thousand miles on it..
Chances are even if Ryan and Marissa didn't crash that baby was on its way out!

The interesting thing about Ryan's Land Cruiser is that Ryan really only got to enjoy it for about a day before it was brutally thrown off the road by Volchok and totaled! How sad, its almost as if everything Dawn touches turns to crap.

Side view

Look, Ryan is driving around with a New Mexico license plate 594k28..Interesting..

During the crash scene Ryan's Land Cruiser gets completely engulfed in flames

Then here in this very rare photo, we see whats left of Ryan's Toyota Land Cruiser at The O.C. back-lot. As you can see not much flame damage at all, mainly structural. Which means there probably was more than one vehicle involved during filming, one to wreck and one to set on fire. With the fire car being a pretend look-a-like Land Cruiser (possibly).

Cars of The O.C.: To Infinity and Beyond!

Before Benjamin Mckenzie hit it big with the O.C. he was living the poor life in NYC and driving around in a 1987 Cadillac Deville (click link to see) that he paid 500 bucks for! When Ben moved to L.A. and started working on The O.C. things drastically changed for him!

Ben didn't go out and buy crazy yachts and homes with pool houses with his new fame and fortune but he did buy an apartment in Santa Monica and in particular a nice 2004 Silver Infiniti g35 2 door coupe!

The original base price of this particular model was around $29,500.00, the car had a total of 280 horse power! Still a modest choice price-wise for a young up and coming star yet quite the upgrade from his old Caddy at 130 horse power! As you can see from the pictures he pumped premium gas into this baby, quite the big spender Ben! Out of the the younger O.C. cast-mates Ben was rumored to be the most modest spender of the group and was able to save the majority of his O.C. money! Kudos!

lukes truck o.c. what kind

Here we have Luke Ward's pimped out 1999 GMC Sierra Extended Cab Z-71 complete with surf-rack! All the bells and whistles a water polo player could ever need! Perfect for cruising with the bros, jamming out to tunes and picking up your girlfriend.

lukes truck o.c. what kind

I was told by a former crew member of the show that Luke's truck was actually owned by one of the other crew members of The O.C..That crew member let the show borrow it for Luke's truck scenes..On-to the trucks fate...

oc the proposal luke kicking truck

With that being said, it makes watching this scene a whole lot different knowing that Luke's beating on someone else's truck (and most likely was paid much less). I hope the guy had insurance cause...

oc the proposal luke truck wreck

Lastly Luke really makes a dent by drunk driving and hitting a street sign as well as a newspaper stand. Upon impact Luke hit his head on the windshield as well as the front end of the truck getting hella damaged, rendering it totaled. Aww poor truck, I wonder who owns it now?

The Cars of The O.C.: Luke's Dads Dealership Mustang Saleen S281 Extreme Edition

In the season 1 episode 12 "The Secret" we see a lot of Luke Ward character development happening. The episode is filled with a ton of things that were new to Luke Ward's character, an emotional roller-coaster filled with gossip, bullying and lastly humility. His character and family are forever changed by a huge secret that is discovered in the worst of ways and it all started in Luke's dad's car dealership.
But lets not get caught up in that, how could something so beautiful get lost in the drama! Luke and Ryan are paired up to work together on a school project which requires working outside of school to get it completed. During the process the guys need to stop by Luke's dads dealership so they could use his high tech film scanner, laser jet printer to get the job done (I wonder how much Mustang had to pay for this in-show commercial).

On the way they stumble on this gem! There she is, Luke has a total fast and the Furious moment here, he says "450 Horsepower, 8 cylinder!".

The car we see Luke and Ryan jump in like a bunch of kids in a semi abandoned car dealership with the keys inside the ignition (oh wait that is what is going on here) is a 2003 Mustang Saleen S281 Extreme Edition! The car features 450 horsepower in a 4.6 L, 281ci engine. This car is a limited edition version and only so many were made. Base price for this convertible was $64,504 dollars usd.

Bonus fact, When Luke checks out the Mustangs sound system the radio is set on 106.7. 106.7 is an actual California radio station called KROQ, which features Alternative Rock to the area. It is a well known and world famous station. Bands that were featured on The O.C. could have potentially been played on KROQ which makes it kinda special. Listen to the station live here and pretend that you live in The O.C.!

The Cars Of The O.C.: Trey and Ryan's Get Away Car Mystery Revealed!

Here it is, the first glorious minute of one of the greatest shows of all time, the famous Trey and Ryan car jacking cop chase from season 1 episode 1. I've been wanting to know for awhile now what kind of car they stole, although I never really tried looking until now...Through hours and hours of research, the staff at All Things The O.C. finally reached a conclusion - the stolen car that Trey incessantly steals is in fact a 1978 Chevy Camaro! Right off the bat, the car looked like something straight out of the 70's which helped during our research. The smaller square turn signals (near the headlights) gave it away as well as the grill...Ironically Benjamin Mckenzie (Ryan Atwood) was born in 1978 which makes him and the car the exact same age.

Furthermore check out the Camaro's licence plate as he races away nearly throwing Ryan out of the car! The license plate reads 2CON654
.

Interestingly the license plate numbers 2CON654 has been known to be attached to other productions including Axel Foley's convertible in the Beverly Hills Cop movies. It would be cool to figure out if the letters and numbers mean anything!

So there we have it solved the mystery just like I promised! Makes you wonder what would have happened if the boy's never got caught by the police, for our sake i'm glad they did!
